Everglades National Park encompasses 1.5 million acres at the southern tip of the Florida peninsula. A visitor approaching the main entrance will quickly transition from the commercial vegetable/fruit fields on the edge of the park into a land of sawgrass and pine trees. The main park road continues near tropical hammocks, through seasonally flooded cypress forests, and finally into the salt-water dominated mangrove forests. Everglades National Park is home to an amazing array of wildlife species, including orchids and other amazing plants, birds, insects, fish, lizards, snakes, snails, panthers, deer, and countless other creatures. I hope that you enjoy a taste of some of what can be found within beautiful Everglades National Park.
